You cannot win a war if you don't have the right weapons, and blogging is quite similar. It can become a lot easier and enjoyable if you have the right blogging tools. Here is my list of the best free blogging tools.

1. WordPress

WordPress is a platform that I used for blogging because of the wide variety of plugins and themes that I got with WordPress for free. There are obviously paid themes and plugins, but you can do fine with free stuff as well. No other platform even comes close to WordPress, and I recommend using the paid version if you are serious about blogging.

2. Yoast SEO Plugin

This is the best plugin for search engine optimization in my opinion. Yoast SEO is beginner-friendly, and it takes care of on-page factors that many beginners aren't aware of. It also allows you to create XML Sitemaps, which would normally require an additional plugin to create. This plugin is something that you should install as soon as you start your blog.

Even if you are experienced, this plugin will give you the data to make sure that everything is right. It will also tell you about the readability of the article so that your content also appeals to the readers.

3. Screenpresso

Screenpresso is a great tool for capturing screenshots as bloggers often need to use screenshots for making the content informative. I had no trouble in using this tool even as a beginner. You can also use this tool to screen capture videos, but I haven't used this feature yet, so I cannot comment on it

4. Canva

Canva allows you to create designs like presentations, blog graphics, book covers and much more for free. You can upload your own images and edit them or use one of the layouts that are already available for free. The tool is easy to use, but it may take some time to get used to all of its functions.

There are templates for almost anything like blog graphics or ebook. You can even take your social media marketing to the next level by creating designs for your social media posts.

5. Quora

Quora is a website that allows you to answer and ask questions that you find relevant. It can be used to increase traffic as well as for finding ideas for blog posts. You can make a profile on Quora and answer questions related to your blog niche. People will start following you if you content is good, and you can then use this website to bring additional traffic to your blog.

It would be a good idea to include a link to your blog in your profile so that curious readers can visit your blog easily. There are people who have received more than a million views in a single month on Quora, so the power of this platform cannot be underestimated.

6. Analytify

I find Analytify to be better than Google Analytics because it is more organized, and you can use it through your WordPress dashboard easily. If your website is not using WordPress, then you can go for Google Analytics, but otherwise you should surely give Analytify a chance.

7. Creative Commons

I could give you a list of many websites where you can find stock photos for your use, but I think Creative Commons is somewhere you should go first. You can set your filters like search multiple websites for images through Creative Commons. It will save you a lot of time and effort if you find something that you are looking for through this website.

8. Stock Photo Websites

It is important to use stock photos if you don't want to spend money and avoid copyright violations. There are a lot of websites that provide photos for free without any copyright restrictions. Here are some of the best stock photo websites.

9. PayPal

PayPal is far from being perfect, but it allows you to receive payments from all over the world. It may take some time to verify your account, but after that you can receive payments easily. I think that every blogger should set up their PayPal account as soon as they start their blog so that they can receive payments easily.

10. Ginger

Ginger is a tool that allows you to find grammatical errors and correct them. There is a paid version, but the free version is also good. You can also use this with Microsoft Word for free, or you can simply copy paste your content in this tool to find out any mistakes. Nothing beats proper editing, but this tool should help.

11. Pingdom

Pingdom allows you to measure your website speed. Your load time must be less than 3 seconds ideally. The tool will give you suggestions for improving your performance, but they might require technical knowledge to implement.

12. Google Keyword Planner

Google Keyword Planner is one of the best free tools available for keyword research because it is backed up by the biggest search engine on the planet. You can use this tool to get knowledge about popular keywords even though this is made for advertisers

13. Plagium

If you are just beginning your blogging career, then this tool will surely come in handy. Plagium allows you to check for plagiarism. I don't think that you are a stranger to the importance of checking for duplicate content if you are a blogger. However, you can only check for duplicate content a limited number of times. If you use this tool regularly, then you will have to pay for it.

14. Google Trends

Google Trends is different from the Google Keyword Planner because it shows the trend of the searches for a particular keyword over a period of time. You can compare up to 5 keywords and know which one is more popular.

Important: The free keyword research tools are not recommended for someone who is serious about blogging as they do not show much data including the competition for a keyword.

15. Website Page Word Counter

Website Page Word Counter will allow you to count the words in a website page of your competitor. It shows the total amount of words on the webpage and not just the words in the blog post, but it will surely give you a quick idea about your competition. You can use this tool to decide how many words you should write in your blog posts so that it is more informative compared to your competitors.

From the perspective of search engine optimization, you will have a higher chance of having a better ranking if you have more words in your blog posts than your competitors. Obviously, many other factors will also matter, but in most cases, it is beneficial to write detailed posts.

16. MailChimp

MailChimp has been around since the year 2001, and it doesn't look like it is going anywhere. It is an email marketing tool that will allow you to build your email list and promote your blog posts. You can get up to 2,000 subscribers for free and send 12,000 emails per month. I think that is enough to get started, and you can upgrade later as your email list grows. MailChimp is certainly not the best, but it is fine for beginners.

17. PollDaddy

PollDaddy allows you to create surveys and polls for free. You can use those polls and surveys for your website or for your social media profiles. Even the style of the poll can be customized to ensure that it matches the style of your blog. User engagement is becoming more important, and this can allow you to differentiate your posts from others.

18. Skype

Skype allows you to video chat, make international calls and text easily. This tool will be useful for bloggers who need to frequently communicate with others bloggers or their readers. Video chat is a great way to help your readers. Once you gain enough experience, you can offer to coach your readers on Skype.

19. Google Drive

Google Drive gives you 15 GB of free storage and the ability to share documents, videos, photos or anything else with others. It can act as your backup for important documents as well as allow you to share important documents while working with others.

20. Evernote

Evernote makes it easy to organize tasks and ideas by taking notes. You can sync your notes with your phone so that they are easily accessible. I don't think that you will have any issues in using this app.

21. YouTube

YouTube is something that many bloggers are ignoring, but you can easily find a lot of the top bloggers focusing on YouTube. If you have the time to build your YouTube channel, then it can prove to be a very useful tool for you. You will not only get additional traffic to your blog, but you will also get a platform to build your brand. I don't see why you shouldn't create a channel on YouTube if you want to grow your audience.

22. LastPass

LastPass remembers all of your passwords for you. It can be a hassle to type in your passwords all the time because bloggers have to enter passwords on many different websites. If you want to buy something, then all of your personal details and your payment details will be filled by this app.

Final Thoughts

It is actually quite surprising what you can get for free in the online world. Free blogging tools are useful, although you should consider a paid version if you need one. All the tools listed in this article are sure to be helpful for bloggers, experienced or not.
